Collage Progress

I have been auditioning fabrics to place behind the laces to show the beautiful, delicate details......

I have chosen several batiks that read like solids on their own but add some variation and interest behind the lace without detracting.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pieces large enough for the background of the whole piece so I have been trying everything I have on hand....

Decisions, decisions......

Any opinions will be gladly accepted!

Gorgeous! Personally, I like the simplicity of the 3rd collage. With too many pieces, I feel a bit overwhelmed. I like lingering on each of them in this simple arrangement.
I love your ideas to preserve these precious bits of our history.

I love the rich color-contrast - just beautiful! I like it all!!!! I wonder how many tears they dried . . . you know, they used to actually use handkerchiefs. I always carried them in my purse - before pocket-Kleenex. These, maybe too dear to actually have used - I think they used to hang them over their belts or sashes on dresses.

Somehow I missed that you'd undertaken a textile piece. Those vintage laces and linens are so very lovely; I'm sure it will be wonderful!

I am drawn to #1 and also #3 - I like the feel of #1 in providing a steady background for the beautiful handkerchiefs. #3 also provides a neutral background - I just like the character of the stripes a bit more. Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful.
