500 Drawings Continued....

The paper in this book has a yellow tint which makes it really hard to photograph.   But these are my latest additions.

500 Drawing Prompts

My son and daughter-in-law gave me a "500 Drawing Prompts" sketchbook for Christmas a few years ago, with the understanding that it would be returned to them when I was finished.   I was excited and worked in it every day for awhile.  Then other things came up and I set it aside.  Lately, I have been working in it each night as we sit in front of the TV.  Between my renewed interest in the
sketchbook and a recent trip to my doctor,  Wayne asked me if there was something I was keeping from him.   Lol!  I assured him I was fine and expected to be here for many years to come.

It has been fun coming up with ways to illustrate each prompt.

Hot Sauce and chain

Barbed wire and Squirrel

Beehive and helicopter

More to come......

My granddaughter's Goose

We were heartbroken a few weeks ago when my granddaughter's goose died during a severe thunderstorm here in Texas.  I was doing some very quick sketches of him in my sketchbook....

His name was "Silly".

More from my Sketchbook

Last Wednesday, I had a stress test and sonogram of my heart.  I had plenty of time to sketch while waiting for each test.  So, I added to an earlier page I had started while taking notes during church......

Sketchbook

Last week was busy.  I did however, manage to do a few sketches.  Monday, I had time for a cup of coffee and a sketch while waiting for Wayne to finish his workout.....

This is the front desk and one of the comfy chairs in the lobby.

Waiting....

The Dallas VA Hospital is the largest hospital I have ever been in!  Wayne had oral surgery yesterday and I sketched the waiting room while he was having his procedure done.  Everything went well and he has minimal pain today although his lip is swollen and I am having to be careful not to make him laugh.
Drawing the waiting room was a good exercise on perspective.

Sermon Notes

Inspired by Vicky Williamson's Blog I have started carrying a sketchbook to church.  I have been sketching on church bulletins for years, but they get scattered or eventually thrown away. I always intend to go back and reread the scriptures and lessons but don't always do that.  I figured, with a designated sketchbook, I would have all my notes in one book and they wouldn't get lost.  I took my daily journal to church this weekend and it is a little too large for this purpose.  So I will look for a smaller one soon.  But I will share my little sketches with you today....

The Pioneer Woman and Her Boot Giveaway

Ree Drumond has an annual boot giveaway during the 12 Days of Christmas.  I love the variety and textures.  The stitching and detail are beautiful.  Of course, I signed up for the giveaways every day!  I didn't win a pair, but I had fun sketching them!

Perot Museum

My son, daughter-in-law and their 3 kids met me on the train and we rode to Dallas and toured the Perot Museum.  It is such a unique building, I had to draw it.  The escalator is on the outside of the building!  We saw many interesting exhibits and had a great time together!

Sketchbook

Several months ago, I drove to Oklahoma City to see my Dad.  Of course, I drew the room I was staying in! : ) The floor plan was different than anywhere I've stayed so it was fun to draw.

Sketching Antique Cars

Awhile back, we took Gus on an outing to Ft. Worth and Roanoke.  We visited the Triple F Auto Restoration showroom and then went to Roanoke.  These are the sketches I did from my photos of the day.....

We loved our lunch at Bayou Jack's Cajun Grill!

Sketchbook

I have several sketches in my art journal I haven't posted yet.  Some date back several months.  I will be posting them in the next few days while we finish the studio.  We are so close to finishing!  I am so excited!

These are the toys Gus got for Christmas.....

The squirrels in the tree trunk are his favorite and have held up well.  I stuff the squirrels (or maybe chipmunks?) in the trunk and he pulls them out.  Occasionally,  I 'll stuff a treat or a tennis ball or bone in there too.  The other toys he got didn't do as well......

Gramma's Studio

In my last post I mentioned that my granddaughter was coming for a visit and we were going to go through the cabinets in my studio.  I als...
