Trip to North Carolina

I just returned from a trip to North Carolina to see my daughter, son-in-law and 3 grandkids!  This was the first sketch of my trip from the window of the plane.
Sketching  made the flight go by quickly!
I used watercolor pencils and water brushes in my new handmade sketchbook! I had never tried it before, but instead of coloring on the page and then using the water brush to blend the color, I used the brush to pick up the color from the tip of the pencil.

I had a wonderful visit and enjoyed spending time with the kids.  I can't wait to see them all again!

More from my Sketchbook

Last Wednesday, I had a stress test and sonogram of my heart.  I had plenty of time to sketch while waiting for each test.  So, I added to an earlier page I had started while taking notes during church......

Sketchbook

Last week was busy.  I did however, manage to do a few sketches.  Monday, I had time for a cup of coffee and a sketch while waiting for Wayne to finish his workout.....

This is the front desk and one of the comfy chairs in the lobby.

We're on TV!

Last month when our Urban Sketchers DFW group met at the Irving Convention Center to sketch, the Irving Community Television Network was there to do a video of our group. The link to view the video is here.

This was my drawing that day....

I thought they did a wonderful job on the video!

Quick Sketch at the Bean

After volunteering at VBS this morning, I stopped for a cup of coffee at The Brass Bean
in Grand Prairie.  We have loved the Brass Bean for years...they serve delicious coffees!  I pulled out my sketchbook and quickly sketched the front door of the shop.  I will continue working on my sketch, but this is what I finished while drinking a cup of Crème brûlée coffee....so good!

Oil Change

Today I carried my sketchbook with me to get the oil changed in our car.  There were quite a few people in the waiting room which meant two things.....1. I had alot of subjects and 2. I was going to be there for a long time.   I started out trying to sketch the lady sitting across from me.  But I think she figured out what I was up to because she began squirming.  So, instead, I decided to sketch feet.
