Wayne's Woodshop

Wayne has been restoring old weathered pieces for a neighbor.  I'm sorry I didn't get a before picture of this bench, but all he had to work with were the cast iron ends.  He added the wood slats and finished the wood. I think it is beautiful and our neighbor was thrilled. 

 Wayne wanted to clean and polish the cast iron ends,
but they wanted the cast iron left the way it is.

Wayne's next project is a swing that the same neighbor wants
him to restore.  This time I remembered to take before pictures!

Wayne has also been adding shelves and organizing his shop.  

Warmer weather has made it a lot more comfortable to spend time out there.  

 

Wayne's School Desk

Wayne found a little school desk at an estate sale that was completely rotten and unusable.  So he bought it for $1.00.  There was a method to his madness......he bought it to take apart and use as a pattern to build a desk of his own. 

This is the old desk after he had disassembled part of it for his pattern....

 This is the new desk being assembled....

And this is the finished product......

Wayne just finished the desk this afternoon and already two of our neighbors with small children have asked about placing orders!

Wayne's Woodwork

Wayne has been busy this week in his workshop!  He is trying new things on his lathe all the time!  Last week he was given a large cedar board that he cut and laminated.  He then turned them and this is the result....

These are raw wood.  He hasn't decided what kind of sealer he wants on these pieces.   I love the wood grain and color!  We would love to be able to retain the purple coloring of the cedar.  Any suggestions are welcome!
