Color The World Orange!

Very few people have ever heard of CRPS/RSD, let alone know what it is.  The mission of  The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association is to provide support, education, and hope to all affected by the pain and disability of CRPS/RSD, while they drive research to develop better treatments and a cure.

I recently found the following description of what CRPS/RSD feels like.  It describes it very well.

A Pain Management doctor explained it this way..... Think of the big, initial flare of pain you get when you burn your finger, stub your toe, or hit your elbow's "funny bone", something everyone can relate to.  Now imagine that wires in your body become unable to turn off that initial warning system.  The initial pain flare, enough to cause you to jerk your hand away from the flame, jump around cursing your stubbed toe, or grab your elbow in extreme pain, never goes away.  That warning system has now gone into overdrive...warning you of an injury that no longer exists.  It never stops trying to warn you and that initial pain never goes away.  Ever.

Now imagine you have this malfunctioning car next to you for the rest of your life. It is always within ear shot.  It follows you everywhere.  And the alarm never stops.  Screaming, Wailing, Warning of an emergency that isn't there....Warning!!!  Danger!!!  Warning!!! Danger!!!  Warning!!!  Danger!!!  Warning!!!  Danger!!!  Warning!!!  Danger!!!.... Feeling any stress or anxiety yet?  That is CRPS/RSD in a nutshell.  We can take medications to help manage the pain or help us sleep, but it really can only serve to dampen the "noise".

Color The World Orange is an annual event held the first Monday of November to spread awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). The fourth annual event will be held November 6, 2017.
Across the globe CRPS/RSD patients and supporters will be wearing orange, as well as planning events to spread awareness and raising funds to support research of this debilitating condition. All donations to this page will go to the U.S. non-profit RSDSA for research. Color The World Orange does not receive any money from this fundraiser.
Color The World Orange is a day for the whole community to join together and show that even though we are in pain, we are strong!
